The firm was started by eight associates in April 6th 2010 and was sponsored by a Singapore based asset group called Temasek Holdings and Chinese venture financiers called IDG Capital alongside with Qiming Venture Associates. They were one of the first firms that were sanctioned by basic mobile firms, Qualcomm. Xiaomi lasts to use their chipsets for their devices up to date.
Their major goal was to offer extra functionality that Android had not yet offered and a cool, smoother user interface. MIUI, the ROM which the group developed, became a massive success and has been fitted to many handsets.

Behind the success of the Xiaomi Mi2, the company then continued to begin a global set-ups with their initial HQs being Singapore. They were able to progress to form their first headquarters in the state and launched Mi3 and Redmi smartphones. Xiaomi Mi3 achieved to sell their original batch of devices within 2 minutes of coming on auction, spreading their name all over the world. Following this, they then continued to venture into new markets in states such as Malaysia, India and Philippines. In India, they signed a mutual deal with a giant online carrier, Flipkart.
All over these years, Xiaomi have released other appliances such as a smart-TV, Wi-Fi router and according to rumors they are craving to produce their own tablet.
In April 2015 Xiaomi stated that it would make its Mi gadgets obtainable via two of India's chief e-commerce sites, as well as through offline sellers for the first time.
On 23 April 2015, Xiaomi Chief Executive Officer Lei Jun and Vice President Hugo Barra announced a new smartphone titled Mi 4i in India, the first smartphone to be released in India before any other state. Mi Band was revealed in the same occasion.
On 30 June 2015, Xiaomi said that it will expand into Brazil with the release of locally made Redmi 2 device, the first time the firm sells a phone outside Asia.

It has a power-effective 5.15 inch Full HD 1080p screen with a 16-LED backlight feature giving a photo of light intensity 600 nits. There are variants in black, gold and white cases, and accessible storage capacity of 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB.
On 10 May 2016, Xiaomi released the Mi Max, with Qualcomm Snapdragon 650/652 chipset. It has a 6.4 inch Full HD 1080p screen with 342ppi, and 4850 mAh battery, as well as a 4 GB of RAM, 16 MP back camera, a 5 MP front camera, and a fingerprint detector. The firm later on launched it in India on 30th June 2016.
